Marmalade, English strength tea bags. I used to bring Jeye cloths/dusters as seldom saw those but can find them now. Oh and tins of English shortbread to try out on your new Italian friends. One of mine who boasts of being an Anglophile was driven to distraction the other afternoon when she tried one for the first time. After a succession of mio dios! and ma-donna! she discretely spat it out. "Cheese biscuits" (as she put it) with afternoon tea, join me in trying to convert the rest of the world to the pleasure!

Maybe if you stuck them in a slow oven for about ten hours they'd be dry enough for an Italian to appreciate.

The only thing I occasionally miss here is cranberry juice.

My partner - a devout carnivore - was until recently missing beefsteak that doesn't resemble shoe leather in consistency, but then we discovered a supermarket that sells Scottish beef butchered in Scotland, so now all she's missing is white grape juice.

Shame you are not closer Al, I make my own white and black grape juice, comes out like a cordial which you can dilute with water or Prossecco, very simple to do.Just put the grapes in a large saucepan, no added water or sugar, bring to the boil, simmer for 10mins to extract juice, strain, bottle and keep in fridge.Delicious.

Try and pay a visit to this part of the country and splurge on some Val di Chiana steak. Many people know it from the Florentine style tee bones but the filet is even better. Doesn't come cheap, but the quality is so good, you can cut the meat merely with a fork.
