2436 Lawns in Puglia!!

I know it`s been discussed before but I can`t seem to find it. We want to plant some sort of a lawn in the garden of our new house in Martina Franca (only a small area) but are not sure what will survive in the summer without too much watering. Has anyone got any suggestions please?

My question too. We've got very tough grass here in Spain that I feel sure would survive in Italy and make a lovely lawn area. Just wish we knew what it was and where we could buy it? Have tried asking the Spanish neighbours but no luck with an English translation or explanation.

Grass doesn't do well. Alex and Lyn have a lawn which has a small leaf rather than a blade and its simillar to clover. Sorry don't know what its called. I'm sure they'll say next time Lyn's online.

dichondra repens was what alex and lyn used...

i would say also that if you are starting off new put in a simple automatic timed sprinkler system to spray over the area each night say between 01.00 and 03.00 and that way it will grow well and keep green well for longer...especially if you have children that want to play on it...

if you do want to choose grass instead then use a mixture with a high rate of rye grass in...its the harder wearing type... but again fit in the sprinkler system...

the advantage of this is that it waters without you having to do anything but even more an advantage is that it comes on at night when there is no sun...the water feeds the plant and does not evaporate... hence its doing good and also the amount required is a lot less ...ie half an hour or so should be fine....
