3734 Rose "beetles"?

My very new garden has some very unwelcome guests. All my newly planted roses are being eaten by a black beetle which has a few creamy coloured spots on it. Not just one beeetle of course but loads of them. The rose flowers are filled with them. I can't find them in my English gardening books. Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them . Please?
I have few enough plants anyway.

A standard pesticide should deal with the beetles, if you are really sure. Personally I would rather have the beetles than the roses.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="3"]You will find that in an established garden when you go organic nature takes care of all of these bugs and dieseses .Like the aphids on our roses that disappear overnight because one of our gang of blue tits has discovered them.

I guess what you've done is akin to sticking out a gourmet meal and inviting all comers yum yum.

Best thing is to pick off as many critters as poss and squash them or transport to someone elses garden!

We dont use any chemicals in our garden and it looks fantastic!

just a wild thought - you say beetles but I've heard of a dominant species of ladybird which is threatening the cute red and black one here in the UK and it's black with cream spots.....

I am not using pesticides either, but I haven't got an established garden and it is becoming very ,very hard work trying to acheive this if everything I plant gets eaten! Thanks for the advice. My beetles must be very special as they are different from any pics, I can find!
I may give up and start a "Beetle Zoo"
