116 Italian Chat Group

Hi Folks,

Am really really REALLY glad these forums are up and running again!

I have organised a small Italian chat group here in Dublin and we will be having our first meet up tonight. This first event will simply be a meet and greet and get to know each other type evening - got five to seven people attending. The group has grown a bit since it was resurrected but not all those who signed up can attend.

Now, we have been fortunate (following Sandy's advice) in securing several people who are fluent in Italian, but so far no native Italians. What I was wondering, well really, what I need help with, is ideas to keep this group interesting.

Tonight we will meet in the city centre and either go to an Italian restaurant if the group is hungry, or go to the one Italian pub (I know I know, sounds unlikely) that I know exists in the city. But for future activities I was hoping that some of you would have more ideas/experience as to what to do to keep this group from getting bored?

In response to the information that there is an Italian theme pub in Dublin - there's an Irish (Guiness) pub in Comunanza, Le Marche - with a darts league!!

Any other cross-cultural oddities out there??

I was surprised to see an 'Italian' pub anywhere considering I saw few in Italy - what few pubs were about were largely themed Irish/American/English or international.

We have a Mexican/Italian restuarant here as well - Mexico to Rome it's called. Oh, and an Irish/Italian hybrid restaurant called Luigi Malone's.
