2268 Winter Olympics

Just a thought - why, when all the rest of Italy seems to be having abundant snowfalls (some places like Florence apparantely having the worst for 26 yrs), ........why is it that the area we live in (Piemonte), has had NO SNOW ?? I get up each morning and look towards the Alps - and they are just 'brown' ...... hardly any white on them yet . The organisers of the winter Olympics 2006 must be having kittens ?? This time last year we had had quite alot of snow - it seems to be a case of 'sods law' doesn't it ?
Oh well - just thought I'd get that off my chest :o

Know the problem - we are going over with friends on Saturday to our place in Piemonte for a weeks 'frolicking' in the snow - [for me that's pre- and apres-ski, plus drunken tobogganing, for the others its skiing]

Not a lot of snow - BUT - at least there is some on Mottarone [20 minutes from my place] with most of the runs open [and the bar too I hope]

Thats sounds just like my idea of fun - skiing far too energetic :p
Have just been reading the local paper, and some of the resorts are actually very worried about this. The only run open in Prali is the Baby Ghigo and thats with the artificial stuff. Although Sestriere seems to be okay.
Oh well - we get the exciting stuff here in the Pinerolese - the Curling - can't wait ! (apologies in advance to any curling fans out there )
