This site might be useful/interesting to those of you who live in Italy and can speak/are learning Italian.

It is the site of ANSA, which is an Italian cooperative news agency (supplies all the major papers) and the emphasis is on 'chronache' - the factual day to day news stories - rather than the often heavyweight political stuff beloved of most Italian newspapers. Stories tend to be short and to the point (good for you beginners) and can be viewed by region as well as today/yesterday etc. There is even a section in English but I know that won't be of interest...

Looking at it might give some balance to the various 'stories' which appear here about various regions (there was a major anti drug operation in Abbruzzo yesterday - 60 arrests.....and a partner swapping group was discoverd masquerading as a cultural society in Puglia).

I just hope the number of murders, rapes, robberies, shootings, health service failings etc doesn't depress you.....

Thanks; that's a really interesting site, and just the encouragement I need to do some (desperately needed) work on improving my vocabulary.
