2446 Going Regional - Vote for your region

Hello,

lately there have been quite a few requests to set up regional sub-forums on the Italy Magazine forum. The problem of course is to understand whether these would be really useful for all regions or just some.

So in the good old way of testing such things here is a poll - please simply vote for the region you would most be interested in. If we get a good spread of regions we will then establish regional subforums to concetrate discussions. Keep in mind that you can vote for more than one (I think its reasonable that you may be interested in at least a couple of regions)

Many thanks,

Ronald

ps (since a poll with 20 regions is quite big I've divided it somewhat like the Italy Mag website across 10 groups moving from North to South)

Hi Aliena,

I am hoping for a suprise but I am guessing that yes Puglia may have a significant amount of votes.

All the best,

Ronald
Ooooooooer.. I've been racking my brain cell for at least 4 seconds and I simply can't imagine which area will have the most votes! Oh well, At least Campania is way ahead.. for the moment! :D

:) :)
I'm with you on this one - Campania first, Lazio and Abruzzo second.

Why does Abruzzo have to get lumped in with Lazio?
Why does Abruzzo have to get lumped in with Lazio?
I knew someone would complain...:o

This is just a rough poll and i did not want to create 20 options. The final forums (if we set them up will be one for each region). If you are interested in either of the regions then vote for that option. Think of it as neighbourly support :)

Hey we're way out in front :)

the Puglia pussies are on their own ;)

Why is it almost impossible for some posters to simply post their positive feelings about their own region, district or area without directing negativity at other regions.

Born in Lombardy ( Pr. Cremona) -that will have to get a tick
Family members in Emilia Romagna ( Pr. Parma) -that will have to get a tick
With the Tuscan/ Ligurian boundary passing our land -those will have to get ticks too!

BUT -if I have to make a choice between these I would go for Liguria and Tuscany - both for very different reasons

If I have to make only one choice ( and I hope this won't be the case!!) it'll be Liguria.

Maybe the pussies all really Clarke? :)

Hey Ronald!

Let's not create those divides, please! Left that one in the UK didn't we? Each region has something to offer. Each region should help out it's habitants, tip them in the right direction, help them to avoid the mistakes they'd themselves experienced. But I'm sure other regions could equally learn from one another.

George has my vote. How are the babes?

Voting for abruzzo. ask in 6 months after I've moved and maybe it'll change;0)

I agree with Macy and George, a mistake to make more divides in a magazine and forums that is to be for a Magazine for Lovers of all things ITALIAN! To me all things would be all regions, cities, countries, towns, buildings, history of all Italian. I always feel as I must say that is my opinion. I know I don't live in Italy, but I do love all things Italian!

Peggy

The babes are a lot like most of my colleagues when I worked in the UK, noisy, bouncing around but acheiving nothing and full of.... Ohhhh, what's the word I'm looking for...
Jeez..

The Puglia Posse are trailing badly.. perhaps the lazy buggars ain't outta bed yet.. perhaps they don't really like Puglia..

Or maybe they died with all that toxic waste! ;)

:) :)
Maybe they just got sick of posting and are just getting on with stuff...

enthusiasm? :)

i voted on here and now i wish i hadnt.... can i take it back... having just read giovannis post in the puglia party scrap... i find his comments on sub forums...regional forums etc etc illuminating and also wise.... i like the forum how it is...or at least was.... no little breakaway groups ...or commercial take overs...

so had i another vote... i would say please no regional sections.... and no more lists.... i think everyone has been had by that attempt to draw members away and self promotion....

agree, I want to take mine back too :)

I don't really see why people are starting to get worked up about this idea or how it will be divisive. I didn't think we were taking part in a popularity poll. It seems to be a common belief that different regions and sub-regions quite often have a different approach to things so it would make sense to me if I wanted some Liguria-specific advice, help, etc to go in to a Liguria forum. I don't think this would be any different to me choosing to go into the Property sub-forum if I wanted to find property specific information. Surely it doesn't exclude me from going in to all the general sub-forums as well (if I want to know the location of the next Puglia Party for example). Since I have been using this forum I have had several PM's asking me the same question about Liguria and I can't imagine the answer would be of interest to anyone not interested in Liguria - it makes sense to put the answer to this, and other questions on a Liguria sub-forum.

I just don't see how these sub-forums will cause any more inter-region rivalry than the existing sub-forums already do - unless I'm missing something, of course.

I agree. Why can't we post or discuss specific regional questions without constant comments from the peanut gallery? In the past couple of months any you can check there are constant comments by certain individuals that have nothing to do with the initial post. It is bad for the forum.

If seperate regional forums are set up, then maybe the moderators of this form can weed out the trouble makers and get the forum back on track.

Fundamentally, I view the subforums in exactly the same way brendagfc defined them. In fact, the real worry for me is that they would have to be 20 and the majority of them would be quiet most of the time.

The vote seems to indicate that there is an even spread across regions but we would have to have a bigger response to establish them.

So I think we may have to wait a bit longer ...

Thanks for putting the poll up Ronald. It's nice to know there's a good cross-section of people to talk to about Italy on the forum. We intend to discover many new places in Italy, and I'm looking forward to finding out about these places from some of the forum members that I haven't talked to yet.
I enjoy reading about what is happening in different regions. I understand the need to ask specific, important things about a Region (maybe real problems that need real answers quickly), and i'm sure that some people will be bored with the questions, but the member asking has the right to ask. Members don't have to read or answer threads that they're not interested in.
