2464 abruzzo motorway

Can anyone let me know if the motorway from Rome is usually ok and free from ice?what about between Sulmona and Roccaraso as we are out in Feb.

it was closed for a short time on monday.... yesterday i was down in castel di sangro and the road from sulmona was fine....

you need to arrange with the hire company to have snow chains on.... if you have never put them on get them to show you how .... its easy ... but you have to be carrying them in your car on that whole route this time of year....
ofeten they just take heavy vehicles off for a day... because in general its them that cause the blockages...

by the way snow chains.... lay them out in front of the wheels... which ever is the driven set... and drive halfway on... pull the chains up either side to the top of the wheel and link them in... pull as tight as poss... drive a short way at around no more than 50 kph... and then stop and re tighten... they are noisey and you have to drive slowly...be careful to keep them tight...cause if they get loose they can damage the car...and they ll charge you extra when you return it... after all that... the snow is good for skiing so i guess you just have to be happy about that...

anyway the snow on the mountains will stay... the roads...ask again nearer the time....
