312 car hire Puglia

Anyone found a cheaper car hire firm other than the usual ones in the airports? If hiring for 2 weeks plus it gets a little expensive. Buying a car seems to take quite a lot of paper work for now. Just wondering if any local Italian car rental places are about.... :o

We have used Holiday autos for years and found them very reasonable, recently we have noticed that they have a link on the Jet2.com site and not only is it cheaper but they give you the excess insurance waiver and cancellation insurance free. we have in the past trawled round Italian car rental firms but sadly never found a better deal.

Auto Europe are much cheaper than Holiday Autos for the above destinations and they do not charge if you make changes to your booking before you go.

Jan;)

:) Yes I have come to the conclusion that Auto Europe offer the best deal. Thanks for all the comments.

tried their web site but said that they had no availability from Brindisi on several dates that I tried? I go a reasonable short rental deal with Europcar but only when booked through expedia.

mmm.....not happy anymore with Auto Europe have just used them from Bari...seemed a good deal. Tiny car 3rd party through Avis- Auto Europe is sub agent. On return found they had removed another 25 euros from my card, for "foreign VAT". First time this has happened.

I would like to find a local firm, something not connected to the main companies, but imagine this will need some local knowledge and some better Italian.

I travel regularly to Canaries, much cheaper car hire there. Just as wild driving and dents so don't know why Italy car hire is so expensive.
