314 Trip to Venice

Hi

We are going out to Italy in June/July and for part of that trip we will be in Venice, staying at Camping Ca'Savio 30010 Ca'Savio Venezia Italia.

Has anyone got some good tips about interesting places off the beaten track.

Obviously we will visit the main sites in Venice but intend to explore some or the less well known areas.

We are driving to Italy so will have the car but would prefer to make use of the public transport.

I have been told that the boat trip on the River Brenta is very good. Has any one tried this. I note that lunch can be booked on the trip? Does anyone know if this it is worth booking the lunch?

I look forward to receiving any suggestions.

Treviso is but a stones throw away and is IMO a beautiful city well worth a visit

Easy to get to by train and the centre is easily walked to from the station

You might want to take a boat trip from Venice to Padova - well worth a visit.
Alternatively, if you wish to drive for about 30mins from Venice you can visit the Brenta canal. There are many Villas you can visit, but Villa Pisani at Stra is worth a look if you like that kind of thing. If you want somewhere to stay, Villa Margherita in Mira is excellent ( if a tad on the expensive side), if you fancy lunch, Alla Posta in Dolo is excellent, but I have been told that the Nalin in Mira is the best fish restaurant in the area. To be honest , you really can't go wrong if you want to eat fish - it is the regions speciality after all. If you want further info, please feel free to e-mail me.......
