3305 Shipping stuff to Italy

Has anyone tried this as opposed to hiring a van and if so how was it?

General chat about Italy

We used a transport service from London to Marche and shipped by road. This was a much cheaper option than a removal company - if you'd like the details, send me a pm.

Pam

We are doing part load share to Italy- depends on how much stuff you have but we may be able to take it for you- trouble is we leave april 28th-
cannot send you a PM as your box is full-
send me one and lets see if it can work out- Jude

thanks Jude but we're not ready yet and won't be for a months yet

Posted this on another thread yesterday so hope this helps.

If you've only got a couple of boxes - ie not a house move, then I've found Parcelforce Euro 48 a good bet.

Just sent 5 boxes to Le March from Surrey total 106kgs for £193 and they collect, so no taking down to the post office. Takes 4 working days (OK so they delivered a day late) and arrived fine nothing broken or missing. Each box/carton must not exceed 30kgs or be more than 1.5m girth.

Sorry headyheady - haven't looked at this post for a while.

Here is the web address - I'll send it to you by PM.

Yes, and it was the most sensible thing I've ever done. A firm recommended by friends in France, it's a couple with their own fully insured van that ply back and forth all year to the various expat outposts on the continent. I forget the cubic capacity of the van but it's not a pantechnicon, it certainly wouldn't hold the entire contents of a 3 b/r house say. But they were simply marvellous, I cannot recommend them enough: flexible, helpful, experienced, he's ex antiques trade so very careful. At the eleventh hour, I had a problem of epic proportions but they stepped in to help, so cool, so calm, drove halfway across England to help me out. They were wonderful. Nothing seems to faze them at all added to which they're extremely nice people. Door to door, London to southern Tuscany, £3000, including packing at London end and terribly difficult unloading in Italy. V

I have a customer that sends containers (or part containers) world wide. If you have a fair amount of stuff to shift, it could be a useful contact. Let me know and I'll send you the contact detail.
