When we first moved to Cornwall a lot of the older people would kill a snake if they saw one,and a bird of prey ...now thankfully we are starting to appreciate them as they are intersting and beautiful creatures.I thought about going to this festival but think now I will avoid it

The main thing starts around mid-day I think, but there is things going on all day. You need to get there early, as parking is on the road leading to the village and the later you are, the further down the hill you find yourself. I should warn you that if you do happen to like snakes, it is not a good thing to go and see. The snakes wrapped around the saint keep being poked at, as it is considered good luck if they go up. Then there are a number of people hanging round trying to get you to hold a snake to have your picture taken, these were on their last legs(well..would have been if they had them). I admit that you can take some great photos, but the animals really do suffer.
Don't let me put you off though, go and makeup your our mind.
