348 Help! Van needed to Italy

:eek: We've been let down at the last minute by a man-with-van type operation - we were hoping to move a very small amount of furniture (one dresser) as part of a larger load from the UK to the Lucca region this week, but they've pulled out.

Does anyone know anyone who might be going across in the near future who could run a small part-load like this?

No sure whether you have sorted out your problem but if you have another need to take things too and from Italy to England my family run a haulage company too and from Italy and we offer a door to door service. With very competitive prices. Sound live and advert now. He he!!

Thanks for the replies. I've now delayed the move until the end of the month.

Anyone in a similar situation might be interested to know that there are at least two websites out there which match "buyers" and sellers" for part-loaded space to and from Italy - or anywhere else for that matter. You post up what you need moving and when, and removal/courier/shipping firms reply if they're heading that way and can take what you have. Much cheaper than exclusively booking a van. To my surprise, I had loads of responses when I took this route.

Something else I've learned is that whoever you choose, make sure they have insurance (it can be hard/expensive to get for countries where vans/lorries are often mugged, apparently) and that you get some references.
