If you are driving to Italy from the UK - I have just found this website that shows where the French speed cameras are. It has maps plus details of the speed limits in force at the camera location.
I have heard that the French are going to put many more cameras up - they must have heard how much money the english ones raise!!! So don't forget to check it for updates before you travel
...just to add to that, watch out for white peugeot estate cars with two small squares in the tailgate on either side of the number plate. One is a camera and the other a flash. These cars cruise along the motorway at the speed limit and zap the unsuspecting speeders as they wizz past!!
