37 Going to Abruzzo, what's the weather like, where should I go

Hi there,

I am going to Abruzzo (Pescara) for three nights (Sun to wed).

The purpose of the trip was to have another go at buying a house, but because of the recent snow, the agent decided that it would all be too difficult and that it should be done another time.

But its school holidays and since I planned to take 2 of the children (fifteen and eighteen), I didn't want to disappoint them by cancelling.

So what is the weather like now? Is travelling by rail or bus to Rome OK? What about up the coast to Bologna?

Is there anything in the way of art galleries etc near to Pescara that shouldn't be missed?

I fancy the look of Sulmona, but am I likely to be stranded there if the weather turns again?

All advice gratefully received.

i just checked out on internet the weather but it only gives up to sunday with any guarantee. At the moment no more snow/rain is forecast.Probably at the coast its all gone but inland you'll still find quite a lot of snow around. All main roads are clear including roads to Roma so you're best bet would be train/bus from Rome unless you fly into Pescara.to move around inland you'll probably need a hire car.
have a good trip.
james.

I have just flown back from 3 days in Abruzzo - weather was fine - sun out on Thursday and lovely contrast between sun, blue sky and snow in the hills.

Flew back from Rome which was warm enough to sit outside the airport waiting for my flight. What I could not understand is why the few hundred people also returning to the UK did not join me - seems some people are happy sitting indoors even though the temp was mild, the sun bright and the sky blue. Perhaps we miss the grey skies and rain??
