4058 cold pressed extra virgin organic olive oil

this isnt a food question and maybe i should not be allowed to post but i really think its just a request for help so not really a trade thing

anyway my neighbours make this stuff and they have just spent a lot of money restoring a place so that they can sell it direct... no i dont want you all coming here...not much point when you have your own neighbours doing the same thing anyway....

so the question is does anyone know a firm or contact in the uk that would be interested in getting this stuff in bottles ...sort of with nice pictures etc.... and costing heaps more than i would pay..

they are an italian family , been working the land for generations.. the farm s all certified as organic as is the produce.... and they asked if i could help... i have done all the usual searches and sent off about twenty or thirty emails to various suppliers of that sort of thing in the uk... not even an acknowledgement which to my mind stinks as regards marketing ... a polite reply of sorry we cannot help might have brought in a new customer at no cost apart from a few lines over the net.... and no ..... i refrained from the dots...so it wasnt that they were mad at me for that aspect of my email.. i think i even went back and checked mmy spelling and punctuation.... dreary

so i would apreciate on my neighbours behalf if you do know anyone...hopefully a firm contact...if you would send me a PM rather than an open forum message ... i dont want everyone else on here snatching a contact i have been trying to get....

just to make it clear ... i have a garden with just about enough trees to keep our family in oil... i like the oil but do not have any intention of becoming or even wanting to be an oil magnate from abruzzo...

The best course of action would be to set up as a seller of boutique/limited quantity olive oil then sell the product at that point to high end stores in the UK.

Others have taken this route with success. Alternatively if you can appoint an agent to sell the product in the UK for you (at the larger markets for instance) it might start the ball rolling.

John,

Could they not bottle it and put pretty labels on it themselves and then try to market it via whatever outlets you could find. This would not only cut out a number of unnecessary middle men but in doing so would also maximise their profit. There is an outlet for this kind of thing quite near me but I don't know if they are contactable via the internet or if they would even be interested but I will pm you with the details I have.

the problem is here you can buy the oil by the litre from the producers at around e6 per litre... another problem is that virtually every family has more than enough of their own.. anyway.. i am talking best quality cold pressed ..

so there is no value added market for that type of higher priced oil here... our neighbours have these stainless steel vats of it that they sell a bit like form a petrol station... much as the wine producers do..

my problem is just linking up the importer/agent and these people and then im done... but like any good product its not worth much unless you get it to the right place...

i would like to thank those that have PM d me already with a few good leads and at least one offer of help i will get back to you soon i hope but am having a bit of a busy time at the moment with other bits and pieces... give me a day or two

i knew i should have asked here first ... all those well constructed emails i sent out

thanks

If it's certified organic try one of the organic vegetable box suppliers in the UK who also sell such products: Riverford Organics, Able & Coles (I think) and the like. They might want to do an own brand and even do the label for you!
