8626 workplace

We have seen so many accidents in the workplace, this year alone I belive its 18. Thats without counting the seven killed in Torino just before Christmas at the steel factory of Thysen Krups the scenes on tv where horrific, but still nothing changes theres lots of talking but little action.

Quite a contrast to the UK...

I was on a train yesterday and I bought a hot-chocolate. I was given the beverege in an enclosed, lidded cup and a rather large paper bag.

As I was sitting about 10 m away from the restaurant-carriage, and I always try to do my little bit for the environment, I said that I didn't need the paper bag.

I was told that I had to take the drink away in the paper bag, as otherwise I could spill my drink on someone and be sued and then subsequently sue the lady serving me the hot-chocolate!

During the same journey I was on another train which was full of drunken individuals 'singing' obsenity-filled football songs. I'm sure some of the older passengers felt intimidated and perhaps a little afraid of these youths.

I think we need to reconsider our priorities in the UK. In my opinion it is far more dangerous to have drunken youths acting with impunity and without fear of any kind of consequences for their drunken acts (Assaults, criminal damage etc.) than it is to have people walking in trains with paper-bag-less drinks.
