Getting anything done on the first visit is considered nothing short of a miracle to us as when we first arrived everything took us 3 visits (this, by the way, is not an attack on Italian effeciency-it's just our luck!). last week the bottle of Prosecco came out cos we had a problem with our phone which, not only do i now seem to be able to speak enough Italian for me to make the phone call myself, but it was sorted within a week!
Yes there are some nice moments - thrilled to pay my tv license at the lotto shop - v nice helpful bloke too.
Paid my TARSU bill at the post office the other day when, wait for this, there were sufficient staff and hardly any queueing!
I wonder if we will ever talk of the "good old days" when getting a Permesso involved hours of queueing at a questura miles away and if they only lost your documents once then you were doing well.
