Please can anyone help me with information about healthcare in Italy.
We will be shuttling between England and Italy and over the year spending about equal time in each. We have been told that in Italy we will need to apply to the English DHS for an E.121 to entitle us to healthcare which can then be charged back to the NHS. I am concerned that in obtaining this E.121 we will become exempt from care when in England. Can anyone throw any light on this or suggest the best way to continue receiving healthcare under the NHS in England but also received healthcare whilst in Italy?

If you're spending 'about equal time in each', the very simplest solution is not to get an E121 but to spend six months in England, remain resident in UK, and use your EHIC card in Italy. As you are of pensionable age (if entitled to an E121), this gives you full rights in UK, as the link below confirms:
