I've removed the advertising from the above post; this is not allowed under the house rules
I've also moved the thread to Introducing Yourself, to give everyone the opportunity to welcome Anna

Hello again,
thanks for the comments. I am looking forward to being bombarded with queries about Abruzzo and Sulmona!!! You can view my profile on LinkedIn if you wish, just to reassure you I don't just log in to E-Fora to advertise...(I do have a part time job and a business to keep me busy)
Have a nice week everyone.

Well Nielo my parent married in Trieste and I was conceived there, a marvellous place for a week end break. I also loved Jan Morris's book about the town, which perhaps you have read? But this is Anna D'Alessandro's welcome page and so yes, I like Sulmona too...a place famous for confetti....(sugared almonds). Perhaps Anna can tell us about the tradition of using different coloured SA's for different occasions?

OK Noble, this a first for me...different colours for different occasions?! All the coloured ones are used to make those lovely confetti's flower bunches, animals shapes (I love the bees' ones, have you seen them, arent they cute?) etc. Not aware we use different colours for different occasions...that could be a marketing ploy...do let me know if you find out that I am wrong. As a Sulmonese, I am telling you, white confetti is the way to go!!!!!!! (incidentally, you know they get priced by the size of the almond and if the almond is peeled or not? and they say size doesnt matter).

When students have gained their degree as part of the celebration, we were offered red confetti. White for Weddings and First Communion and when there was a baptism, little decorated net bags of pale blue for a boy or pale pink for a girl where handed out. I just thought it was a charming tradition. Of course the chocolate ones covered in a thin crunchy sugar are ............ohhhh........and are found in most big supermarkets at Christmas time!
Nielo, you are right, I should have said something about myself! Forgive the intrusion, I am a beginner at holiday rentals as you gathered...
I am originally from Sulmona, but been living in London for the past 18 years. Love Abruzzo, love Sulmona and love the UK too! I have my own business (not in real estate!) here in the UK and recently did some work to my flat in Sulmona. Love reading, socialising and travelling...
Languages are an obsession of mine as it is good food. Experience in Sulmona? Plenty to tell. I lived there for the first 21 years of my life. I personally love Easter in Sulmona, it's a magic time of the year for me. I always get a bit emotional when I see the 'Madonna che scappa in piazza' (Easter) and I have my favorite spot to watch the Good Friday's procession. But I'll keep this a secret, I dont want anyone stealing it...
Anything that anyone wants to ask me about Sulmona and Abruzzo, just get in touch. And no, it doesn't have to be related to my flat there!
