Hi, I am an American born and bred, but am married to an Italian who has lived in USA since he was 10 years old. Until this last week, he had never returned to Italy. His only sibling, sister, has been back numerous times. She is fluent. He in not so fluent but is able to manage conversational Italian when he is surrounded by it.

We just returned from 8 days in Abruzzo, where the family lives. :) :) The family lives in S. Gregorio and owns a hotel/restaurant--I think called an agritourismo. S. Gregorio is near L'Aquila.

What a wonderful place--clear skies, bright sun, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, everywhere old and new blended together, salmon-colored stucco houses with balconies with flowers everywhere, etc, etc.

We went to Italy because my husband is suffering from what is probably going to be a terminal illness. During our wonderful trip, I thought about moving to Italy some time in the future.

I am a registered nurse with almost 30 years experience in critical care nursing and a Masters degree in nursing. I would love to find out about nurses salaries in Italy and where the bigger nursing schools are located. I have decided to learn the language.

Nice to hear from you, we live at the other side of the tunnel near Teramo.

I think the area around L'Aquila is stunning, and it's nice to be able to get to Rome quickly then return to somewhere sane in the evening.
