And if you need an overnight stay at Stansted - Bolton 35 recommends Great Dunmow Travelodge:
"This Travel Lodge is only a few miles away from Stansted and seems that if you book it in advance you can always get a decent price. We have always got a deal on a family room with double bed, a sofa and a pull out bed (sleeps 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults). This time we are only paying the Saver Rate of £29. They charge for overnight car parking in front of the hotel, but just before the entrance of the hotel, there is a road that is free parking, which always has spaces.
We have found it a good place to stay with comfortable beds and spacious quiet rooms. It also has a bistro restaurant and a bar.. so your holiday can start early!!!!"

Thanks for the info. Also very handy for those of us who fly from Stansted to Pescara.
[quote=ciaoman;79895]Greetings everyone
My wife & I love Italy and visit every year. Does anyone have any advice re travel via Ancona - Ryanair used to fly there but apparently no longer. What are your recommended alternatives (if any?).

as you say this i can only imagine that you're referring to the liverpool flights as there is a daily flight to ancona from stansted.should you be coming in the spring/summer you could fly to Roma ciampino it's a lovely quiet drive over the mountains little more than 3 hrs. or you could fly to Forlì' near Bologna and only 2.5 hrs from southern marche you could also fly into pescara equidistant from central /southern marche as is Ancona,there are also other airlines like easy jet which have numerous destinations,in the summer Rimini is also open (maybe from manchester)the alternatives are NUMEROUS.
