9781 Frank and Val-- Car insurance

:laughs::veryconfused:Hi all. We have lived in Umbria for 21 months and are slowly sorting things out--- but-- having trouble understanding car insurance. Tried getting quote on-line but do not understand "Classe di provenienza CU". At the moment we have insurance with an American company and although we are told by can find the "classe" on our current documents we are STUCK. Can anybody please help?.
Thanks Ciao Frank and Val

Check old threads on this subject. Italsure are supposed to be very good. There is a guy called Oliver based in UK that represents them. + 44 207 1178283 I rang to get a quote last week and seemed very competitive. Don't know what others think buy we would NEVER simply buy car insurance online in Italy....

Hi
Can also endorse Oliver at Italsure, left a message re our reinsurance and he rang back within 30 mins. We get fully comp. for our 'imported'car which now has italian plates.

Apparently, the Italy 'expat' rate has gone up 15% this year. But still a better deal than elsewhere.

Your classe CU is equivalent to your no claims bonus, and whether you can get a non-Italian non claims bonus (showing a good claims history) accepted by a company in Italy is a matter of some discussion. Possbly Italsure are better at this.

I can't agree with Noble that buying insurance on line in Italy is at all dubious or difficult - I have direct experience of five cars insured online with Genialloyd, most of which have been involved in accidents, and Genialloyd's claims procedure, plus the amount of help they will offer in sorting stuff out is far better than anything I encountered in the UK.

Ciao Charles.

Thanks for info on classe CU, we are insured with Italsure at the moment, but when we took out first years insurance last July they wouldn't allow any No Claims Bonus although I had full NCB from UK insurers. I understood this to be the case in Italy- but - from your comments I now think maybe I was wrong, However as you suggest I will contact Italsure and try again.

Thanks again.

Buona giornata

Frank.

Thanks Arentina. We will try Italsure as they are appearing to be well spoken of.
Have a good day, hope your weather in Arrezo is better than here, so far this year has been like an English summer.
