8841 moving house and dogs
its not as simple as you think... maybe why italians stay put... anyway we eventually moved from one house here to another just after christmas and there are a few things which might be of interest....
our dogs...we have four... alongside us ...we had to change our residence ie declare to our old comune we were leaving and the new one we were arriving... but not only that we have had to get it done for our dogs too... dogs have to be declared here as living in a comune... so i guess it makes sense... and luckily our vet is handling all the paperwork anyway..
the system here seems quite good in some ways... the comune handles our driving licenses and we are soon to have new stickers to put on the back... and the cars.. but you cannot get onto a doctors list until the comune accepts you as a resident... or even get usual tariffs on services for residents first home type things... there is or was about a month of limbo in our case... of course it was around the holiday period when it all started...
anyway...if you do happen to move here with dogs ...don't forget to register them with your comune
oh yes... there are laws here about travelling with dogs in cars when the number exceeds one... they either have to be kept in a separate area or am not sure if this is fully approved wear fixed harness equipment... it only applies for more than one dog in the car... it makes sense but it's not something you might think of
After seeing a 4 year old driving a car up our white road (sitting on his mothers knee and steering) I now fully expect to see someone else with their dog doing the same thing...the dog might make a better job of it, bit off thread John but you just reminded me.
