Can anyone advise on transferring a large single payment transfer from an italian bank to a UK bank. More specifically, which will give us the best euro - sterling exchange rate. Asking the Italian bank to convert to sterling before transfer or asking transfer to be sent in euros for conversion by our UK bank?
Does anyone have experience of such transfers?
Thanks,

I have used Smart Currency (the other way) three times now & they have been very good. They offered me the best rates, advised about the best optimum time of the week to buy & the funds arrived when they said they would. They said they would be equally competitive if returning funds to the UK. Unfortuneately I was never able to try the return path as I spent everything I transferred so had nothing worth returning :madd: Smart Currency Exchange
I would always advise ringing round with your transaction to see what rates you get offered before you select your broker or transaction method. With a large transaction you will find you have a much better bargaining position :winki:

... but we have used these people in the past and suggest that you contact them as pretty straight talking no nonsense types ...they will give you to my mind anyway better advice than i would as we are not involved in banking and then you can compare with any other suggested routes...

if you email Chetan.Kachalia@rationalfx.com; he will hopefully respond with some common snese advice...
