2585 Update Me Please!

Just wondering what went down here over the past few days?

I was off Friday and in Belfast yesterday, so had no access to the pc.

It does seem that there has been some disagreement over the new moderators appointed - has that now been resolved to the satisfaction of all or is this an argument that is likely to flare up again?

Hi Sano,

a few people complained (mostly loudly Adriatica and Aliena) about George as a moderator and I tried to quiten them down for the weekend by a. deleting adriatica's post which was all over the place b. hiding the fact that george was a moderator.

However, I flicked the wrong switch and George lost his moderating rights.

This is turn disapointed George (rightly so!) who knew nothing about the flicking of switches because I had no time to say anything (this was Saturday mind you) but we managed to clear that between us. In the meantime others came to George's rescue and attacked me for being incosiderate, mean, etc.

Now things are back to normal (kind off) although I think there are some people who are still bloodthirsty and haven't quite fullfiled their need yet :-)

If things flare up again I will take care of it.

Phew.. I think that covers most of it. George - anything I left out?

Hi guys,

Hmm was just about to ask GeorgeS in here to find out what happened. Like Sano, I just stumbled across the Circolo... threads earlier (I hardly ever manage to get online on Sundays) and it took me the best part of the last half hour to get only a faint idea...

Seems I was too early in mentioning how peaceful it was... :(

Perhaps we should've come out of the closet with our new-found status to pre-empt any possibly attacks? That way people could raise any issues they may have about a moderator with Ronald?

I really value George's opinion, as he brings some much-needed common sense into it. I've also sometimes wondered in the past week where the boundaries of the posts lie. Some topical posts seem to go off topic by miles and it can be a bit tricky to interfere when people get upset too easily... even though you're probably perfectly right.

Iona, thanks, I was surprised at the severity too, but thought that there would be a few problems, ohh well, clutching his cloak of invisibility around his shoulders, he shuffles off into the night, muttering......
