4035 Off on hols...

Hi guys,

Just a quick note before I get too carried away with washing clothes, buying tons of cat food, checking car and packing bags - we'll be off to Germany on Wednesday lunchtime until Monday 10th July!

Nope, not to watch the World Cup action (well, on screen yes) but rather on a visit to my Gran while she's still capable of entertaining (she's 86 1/2) - it could be our last chance of spending quality time with her! Plan was to go to Italy for a few days but we won't manage now. :(

I'm sorry for having to leave you bereft of female guidance here for a little while ... ;) :rolleyes:

Hiya,

Back from the land of strong beer & healthy bread...

Enjoyed our trip but as it was up to 36 degrees C & high humidity, we didn't get to do much sightseeing... other than local street cafes & beer gardens!! :eek: If it hadn't been so hot, I'm sure I would've put on weight!!

Was watching the Germany v Italy match in a German pub together with friends and was amazed at the peaceful, friendly atmosphere - even after they lost!! Was only partly sad, as I'd routed for Italy (on the quiet, though!)... but many Italians were out in the streets celebrating afterwards. And Germany got a nice bonus on Saturday where people celebrated as if they'd won the Cup! :D

And look what happens on here in just 14 days... it's an explosion of new members and hundreds of posts!! And all seemingly peaceful!! Any goss? ;)

Happy I'm back home now ... but don't want to return to work! :( Looking forward to planning our next break...
