10693 Selling a House In Tuscany

Hi,

With our usual bad timing we now wish to sell our house in Tuscany to facilitate buying a bigger house in the next village - because we love the area and the people and have NOTHING but praise for all the Italian people we have come across - who without exception have been the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met. (Just in case you've been reading other threads!):winki:

We currently have it on with our original estate agents web sIte and although they are excellent they are quite niche.

I am thinking of putting an ad in The Sunday Times but I think the house will appeal to other nationalities - does anyone have any suggestions?

Please PM me if it will constitute advertising on the Forum.

Grazie!

Why don't you set up your own very simple website Jinty???

Friends of ours in France sold there house in Provence advertising it privately and exclusively in England but it was two years ago and the economic situation in the UK was rather different. I know they got a quote from the ST and it was quite high but the paper does have a massive readership, a couple of million, I believe, get to read (as opposed to merely "buy"), the paper each weekend. They eventually settled for a small ad in Spectator, which was only a few hundred pounds, if I remember rightly. They created their own website with photographs (nothing complicated), feeling (rightly IMO) that this was important. I think they paid for 3 insertions but sold it within a week, at their asking price too. They were delighted and when we toyed briefly with letting our house here urged us to place an ad in Speccie.
However, today things are different and I think you would be better off targeting the Eurozone as well, especially if you feel your house would appeal other Europeans.
