3155 Location advice

Hi all,

I am at the start of which I am sure is going to be a very long search for a holiday property in Italy.

I am doing a lot of research at the moment but thought I would ask for some advice.

I am quite a keen snowboarder and wakeboarder so ideally I would like to find a property that is near the slopes for the winter and near a lake for the summer.

I am thinking of a new build but am open to other ideas. I do not want to have to restore the place though.

I realise this is a very open request, but If anyone can offer any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

If you're after some specific (partisan!) advice, take a look at the Lunigiana region of Tuscany/Liguria. There are ski resports (and just plain old slopes!) and the region is an easy drive to the Cinque Terre that should offer more than enough acquatic diversions! If you're really interested, PM me as I have a few contacts who can offer new builds (I also know of a few folk with land for sale).....but that's also partisan as that's what the Vita Property link is all about at the bottom of our signature :D

The Marche Region rules as far as my brother is concerned - he also is a snowboarder (passes 15 - 20 euro per day), he kite surfs, surfs, wake boards, motorcross - etc. All very achieveable here.

Send me a pm and I'll let you have his number re activities.

I also know of a plot that was for sale on the way up to the ski slopes (snow here from dec to jan usually).

yes, yes I'm biased I know BUT...

my husband is a very keen snowboarder and wakeboarder - he is a member of a wakeboarding club at Padenghe sul Garda (West Garda marina) - great gang there, lots of fun and they're all very passionate about wakeboarding. They speak very good English too. Lake Garda is a huge lake, perfect for wakeboarding. They have a number of boats they use and the president of the club is also a judge for some of the major competitions around the world.

At the same time in an hour and half's drive we have one of Italy's finest ski resorts, Madonna di Campiglio. There is a closer resort 40 mins away but Campiglio is worth the extra drive and we often go up for the day. They are also building a direct road through the mountains which means that soon you'll be able to get to Campiglio in 40 minutes or less. At the beginning and end of the summer, the wakeboarders have been known to wakeboard and snowboard on the same day, leaving for Campiglio at 7am, snowboarding from 8.30am til 1pm, quick lunch then back down to the lake for early evening wakeboarding...
