344 Hi All!

My name is Francis M., and I am 70 years young, and love Italy very much, so much so, that I would like to spend the rest of my life, with my wife, in this country. My question is directed to members who currently live in Italy: How easy or difficult is it to find a 2-bedroom apartment in or about San Remo? And, what would the approx. cost per month be, including utilities, as applicable?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
FrancisM.

Property Sales/Rental Advice

Are you intending to rent a property, and if so is that 365 days a year or are you looking for a holiday let?

Try looking on www.casa.it for rentals. There are at least two agencies which specialise in rentals in Bordighera. Gli Affari which is published weekly in the area has rentals. Many of the many estate agents also do rentals. I would recommend staying in the area on holiday for a week or so and looking around.

The way that my wife and I got used to the are was to proceed step by step. We rented an apartment from an (Italian) friend in a seaside location and discovered that we loved the area, but didn't like seside towns. The "Alta" part of the town, the original old part up in the mountains was more to our taste.

The we started to visit regularly using staying in a local agriturismo. Very cheap and it gives you an introduction to local cooking. Finally we bought our home having had about a year to be sure that was what we wanted to do.

The Due Porte is a very nice small apartment residence down by the old port in Sanremo less expensive than a hotel and gives you all the fun of self-catering. I think you can book it on www.venere.it or on its own website. Near to a Conad and all the small bars and restaurants in the area and a quick walk into the centre of town. I recommend it as immaculate, well equipped and inexpensive with a private carpark and rooftop terrace with loungers, chairs etc. Sea-facing rooms have a lovely view of the sea with balconies. A nice place to stay whilst pondering estate agents windows and Cerca Casa magazines.
