1808 Roma V Lazio

Hi
I recently went to Rome with my girlfriend and as luck would have it (tongue in cheek) it was the same weekend as Roma v Lazio. I tried for weeks to get a ticket whilst in the UK but with no luck. Once in Rome everyone I asked said that it was sold out and my only chance of getting a ticket was off a tout outside the stadium and that it would cost about 500 euro  . Not deterred I went to the ground and as I had been told i needed to buy from a tout that’s what I did. But the tickets cost nowhere near the 500 euro I had been told in fact i got two tickets for 90 euros! (I regularly pay £35 for one ticket for Birmingham so seemed a good deal) The only snag was they were in the Curva Nord with the Lazio ultras.

My girlfriend was nervous and I was excited. We arrived at the stadium two hours before kick off and the prematch displays were well under way (we saw no trouble although I did hear that there had been a little). The two hours before the match were incredible, non-stop singing by the Lazio fans and amazing orcastrated displays from Roma.

The game it self was very entertaining finishing at 1 all with loads of passion and great skill thrown in for good measure.

I am now completely hooked and have booked a return trip as my birthday present to my self.

If you are planning on going to a game check with the ticket office at the stadium because when we got into the stadium it was not full and we probably could have got a ticket. Also watch out when/if they score because they got crazy!

I don't find Serie A very entertaining at all, but I'd say the atmosphere there was something else.
Probably one the most intimidating matches I've ever been to was Ajax v Feynoord a few years ago. Violence before, during and after the match. Ajax won 4-1 but I can barely remember the match at all. Too busy worrying. :(

This match as fantastic on and off the field and never did I feel scared or intimidated. Real end to end football, skillful and quick. And players that looked like it meant something to them!
