I worry about these football teams being "for sale".
It seems to me that "businessmen" (no longer the local bigwigs, who would be Chairman of their local team as a matter of local pride) are just buying a "brand".
But then what do I know, I follow Perugia, where we have an exiled boss, bosses sons in jail, Gadaffi jr. posing on the bench for a season or so while cutting dubious deals.....
I think I had better read that book DerekL has been promoting!
A whole new area of political discussion opens up - and I have to admit someone intimated to me a European team "for sale", which he (a genuine footballer) wanted to buy, and could I wedge the fairly important real estate into any contacts.....asset stripping rules. Everywhere. Even in football!

Dare I suggest Sampdoria Derek?
You should of course had two Genoa teams to support in Serie A if it hadn't been for some ridiculous bribery allocations against Genoa last season:rolleyes:

Just for the beautiful name, I'll go with Sampdoria :)

No no no relaxed------Parma's the one.
Beautiful name, beautiful city, beautiful people, beautiful music and the best food in all of Italy.
Wow I bet that opens up a nice big can of worms!!!!
Forza Parma

i follow juve, well that does sound common! but here me out, have followed
them since a young lad, without knowing anything about them, except they
always loose in finals! some things have not changed then.
it started in 73, brian clough, called them a bunch of dirty so and so, after
they had knocked derby out of the european cup.
Watched them [on tv] play the great? ajax team in that years final. Remember ajax scoring in the first half, and then it was all juve, but they lost 1-0!
from then on i kept an eye on them, and finally got to see them play in 1983
at villa.......... just got in, in time to see them score after 30 odd seconds!
never seen a replay of that, but remember villa touched the ball only once,
in a tackle b4 juve scored........
there isn't a team out there that has lost so many european finals! be it
the european,or cup winners or uefa cup!
So when people say they are lucky! i think compared to who, benevento ?

I thought long and hard about supporting a team in Italy, but who to support? Rather than the obvious, I wanted to support a local team. The right thing to do? On the other hand, I didn't want to end up watching garbage every time I went over. I've had enough of that here! Thought about Parma as it's probably the nearest Serie A team for me....
But then, news just in...... Spezia promoted to Serie B after a 55 year wait!! And they're only down the road! Thats clinched it!

Don't know what it is, but every time I hear the word 'Sampdoria' it reminds me of Graeme Souness. Never liked the man.
Will go to a match there one day though.

You might be right. Gotta snap out of it. Next thing you know I'll be taking an interest in Dundee United! :)
Might have to be Parma...!

Considering all the mess of these days, scandals, bribed (?) referees etc. i'd suggest some (apparently) clean teams, divided from north, center and south:
INTER: he seems out from the storm (at the moment) he's not winning from ages and probably now we're descovering the reason
CHIEVO a team from Verona, small but with the best games seen in the last years. He plays in serie A too
NAPOLI. after the bankruptcy, the team started fron serie C and is now going ahead and, after all, we're talking of Naples the hottest tifosi in Italy
LIVORNO played a good football this year, but his owner is really stupid and sent away the coach
ASCOLI That's incredible, but has been able to remain in serie A

NO NO NO It's got to be Parma.
A beautiful city, good food, Aida playing in the stadium before the match-----how much more culture do you want from football!!!!
They have managed to stay in Serie A despite Tanzi and the Parmalat scandal.
Not involved (at least not yet) in calciogate.
Gialloblu gialloblu gialloblu!!!! :p

NAPOLI, NAPOLI, NAPOLI!!!
Oops, sorry, didn't mean to shout
Napoli, Napoli, Napoli!!!

Robur Per Sempre !!!!!!!!!!
No no no--------stick with Parma!!!!
I have been supporting them through thick and thin since they were in Serie C.!!!! Someone had to do it!!
It's a fabulous city with so much elegance and good food.
Going to the stadio Tardini is a pleasure------never any trouble either and they belt out Verdi's Triumphant March from Aida before every game.
There you go--- football and a touch of culture thrown in at the same time.
They are up for sale------can anyone lend me a few euros as my bank manager is having none of it!!!
FORZA PARMA
