2387 Place to stay near Torino

Hi all,

A lady in my Italian class booked flights & tickets for some Olympics event for around the 22nd February. However, for the last 6 weeks she has tried in vain to find accommodation close to the city. Apparently the area up to over 40 miles away is completely booked up!!

Would anyone have any ideas where she could try? She even thinks of looking in France.

Any suggestions highly appreciated.

Cheers,
Stephanie

She could try Novara - its on the railway line between Turin and Milan, and has a reasonably good service to Turin.

By the way - flew out of Turin on Saturday - I'll be amazed if the airport is ready for the opening of the Olympics - it looked like a building site.

Also - the improvements to junctions on the Milan - Turin motorway look as though they might be finished for the 2012 Olympics in London.

thanks everybody for thinking of me!!!! Iona sent me a pm.
I suggested www.aisavoia.it, it is lovely and very central.

Novara is in the other direction, not towards the Mountains... Pinerolo would be a better location.

I will be representing Glasgow at the twin cities stand, so if anyone will be in turin during the games, come and say hallo in Piazza Castello!!!

Hi Iona
Just a thought - as LaToCa says, going towards Pinerolo, the regional train line departs directlyfrom the central station in Turin (Porta Nuova) and passes through Nichelino, Candiolo, None, Volvera, Piscina ending up in Pinerolo (dont think theres anymore) Maybe the thing to do would be to look up the Yellow Pages for these towns on the online phone directory and look up small hotels and try them. I know in Nichelino there are a few hotels - including a new one. Just a thought.

Thanks for your suggestions. Have passed them on & hope she'll find somehwhere. I remember she mentioned in late November that she was looking for a place but only this Monday did she mention it in class.

Fingers crossed...
