Thanks Marco, perfect timing with this link as only just back from ski-ing in Svizzera. Suffering withdrawal symtoms and we were wondering where to get some more ski-ing locally!

what's the skiing like in Abruzzo ?

Try Abetone on the Tuscan /Emila Border. I am going there to teach my girlfriend as it is only an hour away from our home. Apparently, they have been granted permission to extend it, check it out at:

Just got he latest brochure and it shows 32 lifts and 56 runs.

hi iam not a skier but ihave been told by our guests that passollaniano is averry good resort with lots of good runs and very cheap lift pases and food. if any one is interested i have a italian ski instucter as a freand who speaks good english and dosent crarge to much iallso know a hotel owener on the mountain by way the resort is 45 mins from pescara air port and 15 mins from our house if any one needs more local knowelage feel free to contact me

My family got back from a week's skiing in Roccaraso on Sunday and they are still in raptures!!

The Hotel Trieste was wonderful and despite the dietary requirments mentioned in another thread they all ate well and were given individual meals where needed! The staff were really helpful and the younger children loved the entertainment in the evenings.Snow was plentiful and lift ques non-exsistent!!They were asked many times how they'd found out about Roccaraso as apparently very few English ever get there. An Amercian Airbase nearby means that plenty of Americans go there.

The only moan from them was that on Saturday the ski clubs turn up en masse and theres quite a bit of pushing and shoving on the lifts.Oh and the runs are not signed well so they did accidentaly get on a black run with no serious consequences!

for more info send me a PM.Piccy attached!

Did you find out about cross-country skiing there?

Skied Passo Lanciano and Maielleta last week, snow good, lovely sunshine. Looked out over the Adriatic whilst skiing (fabulous), and it was only 50 mins from our house.Good skiing.

On the Sunday at Passo Lanciano it was a family paradise. Families turned up from Grandma to babies in arms.

Will try Roccaraso as well next time.

Feel so lucky to have a house near winter skiing and summer beaches (paradise)

Eileen:

Has anyone got a list of these Italian ski clubs by any chance??? My house will be available to rent from mid March.

Try the Club Alpino Italiano at CAI Club Alpino Italiano: Home I think each local group also has a website - certainly the one in Amandola does. The CAI covers all the main mountain acitvities - climbing, walking and skiing.

Someone else on here may be able to add to this information.
