8722 Ryanair profits down!! more charges on the way??

Ryanair have just anounced reduced profits for the last quarter of 2007. As they have just increased the cost of a hold bag and of check-in, I wonder where the next price increase will be or new charge come from. A few ideas I have had are a new 'super' priority boarding catagory, or perhaps a charge for carry on luggage so it is only free if you carry nothing. As I am quite small I think a passenger weigh-in - say less than 75kg go free and a scale of charges for weights above this. :laughs:

Any other guesses??

My personal fave remains pre-purchasing access to air supply/lifebelt. With a coin-op meter for the cheapskates to use to purchase said 'options' in the event that the cabin depressurises.

Budget airlines in India & Indonseia are trying to introduce "standing" seats to increase capacity.

You can be certain parties are watching carefully

It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

There seem to be three main options - charge for a service for which there is no current charge or, increase charges on existing services or, deliver a service that passengers didn't know they wanted but really cannot do without when RA offer it to them.

I'm sure their passenger analysis will reveal there are a significant number of travellers who contribute very little to group turnover, buying the cheapest fares, electing to fly with hand baggage only, have their own travel insurance and airport transfer and not partaking of the in-flight opportunities to spend money. These must be a target for the business - a untapped vein of revenue, if only a way can be found to part us from our money!

Airport Parking? Increases in card handling charges? A premium class passenger?

Of course another way to increase the bottom line is to strip out activities with lower profit margins. So in a way, my usually successful attempts to pay RA nothing more than 2p for a return flight is actually sealing the fate of my preferred routes. Need to think about this.....:eerr:
