We have a house just outside of Tolentino and this year, for the first time will be driving down from the UK with our two dogs. We have got their pet passports sorted - but anyone done this trip and have any extra advice.
Need to know whether travelling through France and Switzerland whether we need any extra documentations and also whether anyone has stayed at a dog friendly hotel on route that they could recommend
Cheers

I have just returned from 2 weeks on Lake Como with my dog. We drove from the UK through France and Switzerland as you plan to do. We had the Pet Passport but we were never asked for it anywhere but returning into the UK [Portakabin on Eurotunnel site in Calais]. On the way down we stayed in lovely farmhouse style accommodation in a small village [Osthouse] near Strasbourg and in a delightful rambling old coach house in Cantello near Varese before going on to Bellagio. Both were excellent with dogs.
I can supply more info if you p.m. me. Hope this helps.
Ivan.

Hi Caroline,
We too went via eurotunnel and were not asked for any documentation.
We decided to steer clear of Switzerland and went via Mont Blanc Tunnel.
We used www.hotdogholidays.com to book accomodation they provide dog friendly accomodation in France.
Hope this is of help....if you require any more information please feel free to PM us.
Ciao
Dave
