The Cannes Film Festival is honoring Marcello Mastroianni by featuring him on the official poster of its 67th edition, scheduled to run in Cannes May 14-25.
The poster shows a close-up shot of Mastroianni taken from Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning movie “8 ½”.
"I'm really honored and touched that the Cannes Film Festival has decided to pay tribute to my father with this poster,” his daughter Chiara Mastroianni said. “I find it beautiful and modern, as well as ironic and elegantly aloof, just as he was."
Organizers of the festival said: "With Mastroianni and Fellini we celebrate a cinema that is free and open to the world, acknowledging once again the artistic importance of Italian and European cinema through one of its most stellar figures."
