Getting rid of old furniture/household items

My wife & I have recently bought a house in Sarnano. Unusually the previous owners have left almost all their furniture and household items in the house. Although most of the items are old most are good enough to keep us going in the short term. The family that owned the house obviously had lots of relatives staying because we now have several folding metal beds, dining tables, an old washing machine and a very old broken freezer.Can anyone tell me where I can get rid of these? In the UK I would just throw them in the back of the car and head for the tip, but I've been told it's not that simple in Italy.
