Visit to Venice

Just back from 4 days in Venice.First flight by Ryanair went well from Stanstead arrived at the hotel by 11.00 oclock am. no rain until thursday, and the Acqua Alta in St Marks was a sight at midday, all the locals walking about in their green wellies! and the tourists on the boards.One feels sorry for the shops which in spite of the metal shutters they put up still have to squeegee out the floors.Luckily Florians is on the right side, so not affected.On the subjet of money. got caught out cashing in some old travellers cheques, had 250 Euros and ended up with only 195 Euros! apparently there is a charge in Venice of about 20% which it appears go to the authorities.anyone else found this?Back on the last flight arriving at 11.30 pm.
