Hi ,I received a traffic violation while driving in Bologna

Hi , 

I received a traffic violation while driving in Bologna city center and accidentally driving down a restricted road only permit required only. I did not see the sign ( if there was one) nor was I aware that there were some restricted roads that I was not allowed to drive on . These violations arrived in the mail 6 months after asking me to pay the fee 15 days from the date mailed , which arrived to me a month later from that date to me in the states. Anyone else with this experience? What happens if I ignore this ticket and do not pay the fee. It equals 275E.
