My friends in Italy have told me they have lots of stories to tell me about the transhumance, which went on until the 1950's but I will have to wait until late April to sit with them. There seems to be lots of documentation about Australian drovers...not quite the same thing though.

If I can work out how to do it, I'll send you a private message but in the meantime, my book is called "Never Forget" and it is available on Amazon (also on Kindle) as well as www.authorsonline.co.uk At present I am working on a story with la transumanza as the background and am enjoying researching this - including a plan to walk part of the routes used by the butteri and drovers, in late spring, early summer. One of my resources is : "I percorsi della transumanza in Toscana" by Marcaccini and Calzolai. Does anybody have other recommendations for me? Grazie!
