One thing you will find is that Italians are very keen to plant seeds etc at the right phase of the moon. I can't remember the times but the info will be around somewhere. The Puglia Posse used to have a gardening calender with all this info, don't know if its still there. Stribs This may help http://www.pugliaposse.com/forums/index.php?/forum/13-garden-and-land/
If you are only changing a small amount why not use the PO or M&S in the uk. you may also be able to change sterling in your local bank here, I have written out uk cheques and my local bank has put it in my account. A friend of ours changed £1000 cash here this week in her bank and got €1.19 Stribs
I shall try and track down where I saw the info but it stated that here in Abruzzo for prima casa a couple without children would pay about €134. This ties in approx with what we were paying before, x 1.6 - €200 - another €50 for children. Stribs
As a rough guide. An average mature tree will produce about 20/30 kg of olives, you get between 11 & 13% return in oil. A fratolio (mill/press) will normally accept a minimum of 2.5 quintale (1 quintale = 100kg) and charge €12 per per quintale for crushing, pressing and suppyling you with that lovely gold stuff. 10 trees - 250 kg - 30 kg of oil (30L) - cost €30 plus a lot of hard graft, trust me. Hope this helps Stribs
We have recently returned from a weeks holiday in Lavagna which is about halfway between Genoa and La Spezia, we found it very convenient for visiting Cinque Terre by train to avoid the terrible car parking problems. We did drive into monterosso on the first day, got details of the boat trips, a quick walk around and then returned by train, a much more sensible idea, although the scenery thoughout the drive was beautiful.Stribs

Do you need permission to dig up olive trees, or is it ok if you replant elsewhere on your property. Stribs
