Finally taken the plunge, retired and driven from Devon to our house in Lunigiana. 1136 miles but worth it. Going to stay for a couple of months, at least until I can catch up with the Mille Miglia next month. Brian
Hi Everyone. My name is Brian and my wife (Aileen) and I bought an old farmhouse in Lunigiana last November.Since then we have had some fantastic restoration plans drawn up by a local geometra and are due to travel over to meet him in a couple of w
I made my own Limoncello in the run up to Christmas last year, but couldn't get hold of any 95% alcohol. And so, I used normal strength vodka and added sugar syrup (made by Monin), the kind that you can buy for adding to cocktails. This kept the alcohol content up at a reasonable level.
Watched the Emilia Romagna epsiode last night and it was fairly enjoyable. Some of it was based in Bologna, a city that I love, and of particular interest was the visit to a Aceto Balsamico farm where barrels of the black nectar had been laid down for years - there seemed to be a lot dating from 1969. In the owner's farmhouse kitchen the owners then cooked up an omelette over which they drizzled the vinegar and then let Rhodes' sous-chef try it. It drove me (at 22:30 at night) to whip up a small omelette and drizzle some recently acquired sticky vinegar - lovely!! I will be tuning into his next program on Liguria.
Agree with all the above comments. We agreed to buy in August 2008, Paula sorted out fiscal codes, bank account, local geometra and even a bottle of champagne when we returned on November 6th to close the purchase (well, it was my birthday!).She continues to help us to this day
