Ciao folks, I am pleased to say I have now finished work here in the UK, I have given myself this week off just to organise the last little bits before I fly out to Milano on Sunday.
Ciao tutti, I am going to be heading out to Milano in two weeks, just trying to get a few last minute things sorted out but overall everything is in hand and going smoothly.
Auguri di buon anno, When I was working in Italy a few years ago, I had a codice fiscale, however as I have been working back in the UK since then, will I need to reapply for a new one once I arrive back in February?
Hey folks,Just wanted to say hi, I have read a number of posts on here but thought it only polite to sign up and write some things of my own!I lived in Umbria for a year back in 2006, absolutely loved it.
Thanks for that Colina, sounds like a pretty prudent approach. Interesting to hear they can cut deals, I doubt anyone does that in the UK. I think I will have to go down the Inter route, I do however have a good reason for this - I advertised my room in Edinburgh to rent early in January as I knew I was leaving this week. Loads of people came around, some were okay, most were not, and just when we were about to give up trying to find a decent flatmate, an Italian chap came around to look at it. Within half and hour we had asked him to move in. Turns out he is from Milan and has moved to Edinburgh for work. I am from Edinburgh and am moving to Milan for the same reason. So in order to keep the balance, he is going to support the Edinburgh Rugby team I followed, and in return I will support Inter. Plus I don't like Beckham.
Hi Terry, You could however look at their range of Expat Accounts, or Offshore Accounts, which as a Premier customer, can be set up for no charge I believe. What I am going to look into is having a Euro Account which is linked to my UK Bank Account, but that will allow me to access the funds in Italy. Internet Banking etc should all still be possible I think, the only bit I am unsure about is whether I get an ATM card with these accounts. http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/travel-international For bill payments, that are needed by the OP, something like this could be the solution - http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/more/international-current-account Will check in more detail when I have some time and write back if I make progress. I am only moving to Italy at the start of February, so will do this in January I think. J
Hi there, Not sure if this would be any use to you, but I am about to move out to Italy and am going to look at opening up a Euro Account with HSBC, with whom I bank in the UK. I will transfer a lump sum from Sterling to Euro, and then be able to withdraw in the local currency without having to convert everytime, and probably without charges. Monthly fee is £3. Still need to go into the branch to discuss, but sounds like a good options from reading about it on their site. J
Hi there, Many thanks for your reply. I have actually already booked the course at the school, so hopefully it is as good as it sounds. Feedback from past students reads very well, and I would rather have an intensive course than study part time at the local comune. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time in the city, I will no doubt have further questions for the board as I get closer to departing, my current task is converting my Resume from English to Italian - oh the joys! Buon fine settimana, J

Thanks for that feedback, I will be living in Milano so coverage will not be an issue. I think I may go for this offer from tre, it looks quite good.
