Sooo... I applied for my Codice Fiscale this summer with the Italian Embassy here. When I received my card (a few months later) I noticed they had my gender listed incorrectly, so we reapplied.
I honestly cannot sing Ugo's praises loud enough. After many setbacks, we were about to give up looking for a lender when we stumbled up Mr. Vangiluca. And even though our purchase has been finalised, he still continues to helps us sort out other matters. I definitely agree with the comment from 'Boschetto' "if anyone can make it happen, Ugo can." He is definitely creative... and tenacious!
As a foreigner, securing a mortgage in Italy in this economic climate is difficult. After 6 months of trying we stumbled upon a site belonging to mortgage broker, Ugo Vagniluca. He's amazing and very knowledgable. http://www.lifeinitaly.it/Inglese/Italian_Real_Estate_Mortgage_to_non_it... I wish your friend all the best.
@ getset.. Thanks! I noticed this door in tucked in a small alley in San Quirico d'Orcia. The entire village is a dream. Definitely worth multiple visits.
Oh, good! Both of your replies have put my mind at ease. My passport is in my married name [ as is my Codice Ficale ] Thank you for taking the time to reply!
Thanks so much for the congratulations! I'm living outside of Italy at the moment (but plan to be there during the renovations) and as of yet, we don't know our neighbors (haha). So I look forward to hopefully having recommendations from other members, as I hear this is way to go. Super forum by the way. I've found useful information already.
