.... sit before reading. The dish for UK free sat will need to be 2.8 or 3m in diameter.... ie a really heavy bit of precision panel on a substantial and heavy base. to make it windproof... the regular cost for this - neighbours real job - was €4,600.I don't know about the commune but anything to do with concrete will fire them up usually.

HiDish size depends on what you want to receive/ watch. BBC1 & 2 are difficult to receive on all but the largest dish because signal is on ASTRA 2D beam which is tightly focused on UK, But ITV 1, channel 4 & 5 and probably 100 other channels, including sky news, BBC news and free film channels are transmitted on the Astra south/ north beams which are strong all over europe.A dish no larger that 1.2 to 1.4 m will receive the said north south beams will little to drop out due to weather. I has such a satelitte dish installed for me when I worked and lived in Milan (2006), in Milan I could even get BBC1 & 2 and the cost of dish, LNB and cable was 600 euro. I bought the receiver from EBay and got the free to air card from Sky. I intend fitting a 1.4 m dish to our house in Viterbo later this year, I will share the results after installation. Regards Terence
