LOL... I had to click twice before it slowly registered... in my little grey cells! :D
Once you double click on the place, it appears in the centre of the map (nothing else happens!). Then just add your comment in the space provided on the left and click to submit - e voila'! ;)

Using the satellite version, I can actually see my house.
With great excitement I placed the bubble on the roof. Then I thought about it a little more.... Perhaps not such a good idea.
At the risk of stating the obvious I'd advise anyone who's pin-pointing a home, only to mark the general area. Paranoid? Me?
In any case.. Tuscanhills, you got there first and your bubble's on top of mine!! Anyone got a pin? :)

I'm happy to change colour bubble, but this seems to be tied to something else.....other versionso of Google Local allows one to change colours 'indiscriminately'!
You can go on top every other week ;)

This is confusion, not yacht-ism ;)

Rather a poor show from the Puglia Posse so far, eh? Do you think they need a 'elping hand from us oop north?

And some people are complaining that this forum has too much *****ing, it sounds like there is a lot of love out there to me:o

In the central region I have noticed that we are split between the coasts. Once a few more members have made their mark, I suggest we meet in the middle for a West v East football match.
I have also been thinking that it might be wise to cutout the nude sunbathing on the lawn, if the range gets any closer, it could bring a whole new meaning to 'member's profile'.
:D
Is it me......

......but does the map only appear every so often?
What am I doing wrong?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Kim - as the map depends on Google it might depend on how busy traffic is or how weak your connection is (it might give up at some times) - just reload the page.
...so far no-one is closer that 300km to me.. so I guess its safe to continue moderating ;-)

Safe for you or for us?

Fiona, I placed my mark in Ancona,Le Marche right at the start, I am no longer there, I guess that I have been buried alive, no where to be seen.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Frantiani, you are still there. just inland from Ancona, not too far from us at Pergola.
If you zoom in its much easier to find individuals
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Is this dead now; I can't find the link anymore.......:err:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I think its on Ronald's 'to-list'. He's just done the internet equivalent of moving house, so I guess he'll find the map at the bottom of the last tea-chest, just below the Christmas decorations and and things he bought from the Innovations catalogue.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
The map is actually alive and kicking - it's just that you can't see it !
Will be linked on Monday once I've give it a nice spring cleaning as well

I just tried clicking the link on the initial post, but the web page cannot be found.
Am I being dense, or is there a different link?

Ok, Ok! I understand... The link is on the menu bar listed as "Member Map".
Stupid place to put it if you ask me!:embarrassed:
I even figured out how to get my listing on there. Hopefully not to pre emptive. We have signed for the house yet.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
If you click on the "Member Map" heading in the menu directly above, there is no problem or just click on http://www.italymag.co.uk/forums/vbgooglemapme.php?do=showmain. Ronald did say he was doing a spring cleaning so that links became redundant!!! I have faith in the guy!!!

And I think I'm quite good with techno stuff!

Andy, if you look at the times of our respective posts, we obvoiusly crossed one another alas. I didn't therefore see your's before mine went out. No harm done.

I tried to access the map and it tells me I'm not entitled to access the map. Any idea why?

Ditto. I feel quite hurt.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Licciana and annec: were you perhaps 'not logged in' when you tried to access the map?
I just tried it as 'guest', and got asked to log in. Having done that the map was there.
If that isn't the case - you could try a PM to the administrator (probably won't have any effect, but might make you feel better!)

I have tried everything and cannot get to the map. I get a message that says ; " The page has been removed or had its name changed".
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Thought I had added myself, went back to map - not there:confused:
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I get the message that I do not have permission to access this page. Did I perhaps do something wrong in a previous life?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I don't have any problem at all.
I'm logged in, I press on "member maP", and I'm there instantly.
Maybe it's a browser problem?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Yep just tried it myself(I'm logged in) comes up blank page and say's page not found top left corner,
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
It still sounds as if one or two of you are clicking on Ronald's initial link. That doesn't work. However Member Map on the menu above should do. Even in my old Safari browser it works!!!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Ah it doesn't today work in Safari. today However it does in Firefox so yes try a dufferent browser.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Sorry for typos again .....

I've tried both Firefox and IE on the Member Map link above but whatever I use it comes up with:
"Licciana, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
Strange.

Na na ne na na! Mine still works.
Must be ok for new members.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Ah but I'm as old as the hills here, but not the Tuscan Ones I think!!! lol
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I can access the members map and see it shows some 'no longer members' but in entirely the wrong place!
I suppose as they don't belong to the forum any more it doesn't matter where the map sites them but it does make me wonder about the accuracy of the map.

I had noticed there is not a soul in western sicily and considered pretending to be there to make it feel better.

cant help thinking it is a browser/plug in/both issue that Italmag cant help with
However perhaps Ronald could maybe publish some browser compatibility issues + any plug in constraints
Today Google, in its usually way, did something revolutionary for most of Europe's web users.
Clear road data information for all of Italy (and several other countries).
We jumped to the opportunity to enhance this service through the Italy Magazine website and the first offering is our Italy Magazine Forum Member Maps - just click here to add your spot in Italy.

Great idea, Ronald! However.... as for a favourite spot... I've got several! ;);)
Guess I'll have to decide which I really really liked best! Ahhh tricky...
