Scalea has a lot more there than our locality - if that is what you are after - Centro Storico is lovely and my daughter is buying a small apartment there.
San Nicola Arcella looks very pretty (we will be exploring that way next visit next month) and I'm told Maratea (which is actually in Basilicata) is a very nice place - so that's another place for us to explore next month.
If you are looking for something closer to the airport at Lamezia Terme [url]www.scalea-property.com[/url] have some apartments in Sant' Eufemia D'Aspromonte (no idea about that area as I've never been) and I've read that the beach at Tropea is the best in Calabria so the area further South than us could be worth a visit.

After a lot of research we went out on an inspection trip and purchased in Jewel of the Sea on the South West coast 40 mins from Reggion Airport.
The development has fantastic facilities including 18 hole golf, beach club, clubhouse, commercial centre, indoor pool, spa, gym, waterpark etc, etc. This should give it great all year round rental potential compared to some of the other developments.
