Cleaning interior brick/stone work

  Prices are always a difficult question because of variable factors but ....  .... any ideas on what range of prices are reasonable for interior cleaning of walls by sandblasting? Just cleaning and no making good etc. (These are the walls of the converted stalle, stripped back of plaster so you can imagine their condition). Does E25 - E30/mq sound realistic? Tried to find some specialist firms for quotes but no luck so far, but this seems like the sort of job for which I could find dedicated folks equipped with the necessary kit who specialise rather than a general builder hiring the necessary. Are there other ways to clean up the interior brick and stone work? (which will require repointing) e.g. HP water. Was a  bit concerned that the latter would 'soak' the building. Thanks.

We paid €10 a sqm approx 4 years ago so I would say that is far too much. Remember to count all faces of a beam though when calculating the no. of sqm. You need a sabbiatrice to do the work. I am sure builders will do it but there are specialists.

 Have you considered just sealing the existing 'plaster' and plastering over it to give a clean surface for decoration.   I appreciate you don't get exposed brick walls - but it could be cheaper, cleaner and quicker than sandblasting

 Hi Poetica I stripped all the plaster from my walls recently and was looking for some similar info regarding the cleaning up and repointing of the walls. I found the following link: http://www.totalfrance.com/france/forum/viewforum.php?f=7 It has a factsheet on repointing of stone walls. As ever, you'll see that there are many different opinions. There are also a few pics of completed pointing jobs with much discussion of the merits of lime based pointing. It also depends on what type of stone your house is built from, but mine is relatively soft rock so I will be using lime to repoint when I eventually get round to it.   Hope that helps....
