We've also used them on & off for a few years - competitively priced and will always match a cheaper quote.

For anyone without separate excess insurance (insurance4carhire) holiday autos used to have a very cheap excess insurance, (in fact it used to be included). Dont know if it still does. It always looks quite expensive now when viewed on travelsupermarket.com.

My husband is in Italy at the moment checking up on builders and booked car hire through holiday autos - got a phone call saying he'd won the draw for your car hire for £1 a day so £3 for 3 days - he's now wishing he'd gone for a fancy car instead of the basic but I reckon that it's only peopel booking a couple of days cheap hire that win not three weeks in a merc. Any thoughts?

We now tend to use AutoEurope. After years of HolidayAutos I just got tired of having to phone to get them to price match. We're off to Italy shortly for the weekend, 3 days hire with HA cost £70, AutoEurope £50. HA have an excess of £1200, AE have an excess of £150 which I can waive for a few quid. I can change my plans up to 24 hours before with AE for free. I must pay for this protection with HA.
On a recent trip we had to keep changing our plans on the day since the plane was stuck in Bristol in snow and AE were excellent at all times in making new plans, phoning ahead to the car hire at CIA and all on a freephone number.
There's nothing wrong with HA but I never take their first price for granted, always get them to price match and refuse to pay them extra for things others give you for free.
Thanks, just about to book a car from Alghero for the end of the month ill give them a go:smile:
